The Prudential building in Warsaw as an affective heterotopia
Reconnaissance

Abstract

Adapting Aleksandra Wójtowicz’s new research category of affective heterotopia, the author examines its effectiveness in the field of art history. Reading the history of Prudential (1931–1933), the first skyscraper in Warsaw, Toniak examines its symbolic and formal transformations, especially after World War II. The concept of the affective heterotopia allows her to connect political, ideological and emotional perspectives that create the collective mental landscape.
