Abstract
This author analyses Nina Jankowska’s (1889–1979) activity in the area of architecture and industrial design for children undertaken in Poland of the 1930s and 1940s. The architect cooperated closely with Warsaw Housing Cooperative (WSM – Warszawska Spółdzielnia Mieszkaniowa) and Worker’s Society of Children’s Friends (RTPD – Robotnicze Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Dzieci). For both institutions Jankowska made numerous adaptations of rooms for educational purposes as well as projects of fully furnished nursery schools with gardens designed specifically for children. The purpose of this study is to investigate Jankowska’s work in the context of pedagogical ideas and architectural trends spanning the first half of 20th century.
