The text analyses Zofia Kulik’s film essay ”Cultivating the Archive. A Performative Work” in the light of the anthropological perspective on performance and performative critique of the archive. Highlighting the processual relation between culture and nature in Kulik’s work, the author reveals the significance of corporeality in the archive developed by the artist. On the one hand, the body turns out to be a place that guarantees continuity through biological conditions and repetitiveness of cultural rituals, while on the other hand – a territory of potentiality, alternative possibilities of living, creating and remembering. Concentration on the body as a laboratory of memory offers the possibility to frame the artist’s reconstruction of the past as a performative act of experiencing the past and as Kulik’s autonomous and subversive activity on the KwieKulik Archive. The author argues that by depicting the processes of development and maintenance of a processual and contextual art archive, ”Cultivating the Archive” itself becomes an archive of an archive.
