In 2014, Wojciech Wlodarczyk and Jakub Banasiak founded „Place” [in Polish, „Miejsce”] as an academic journal published by the newly established Faculty of Visual Culture and Art Management at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (from 2022 the Faculty of Artistic Research and Curatorial Studies). „Place” refers to the tradition of the „Scientific Notebooks of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw”, which were published from 1982 to 1992 on the initiative of Professor Wojciech Wlodarczyk.

From 2014 to 2016, the role of editor-in-chief at „Place” was fulfilled by Lidia Klein. In 2017, the position was held by Jakub Banasiak. In 2018–2019, it was held jointly by Jakub Banasiak and Piotr Słodkowski. In 2020–2022, it was held by Jakub Banasiak and Marika Kuzmicz. Since 2023, the journal has been edited by an editorial board comprising the following members: Jakub Banasiak, Jakub Dąbrowski, Marika Kuźmicz, Luiza Nader, Piotr Słodkowski, and Wojciech Włodarczyk. Additionally, the following individuals served on the editorial team at various points: Waldemar Baraniewski (until 2021), Filip Burno (until 2019), and Andrzej Leśniak (until 2018). In 2015–2017, Piotr Słodkowski fulfilled the role of editorial secretary.

The following issues were published in both digital and print formats: 1/2015, 2/2016, 3/2017, 4/2018, 6/2020, and 7/2021. Since issue 8/2022, the journal „Place” has been available exclusively in an online format. All issues are available online.
